Today this blog on Healthy Survivorship is one year old!
My favorite posts have been:
- Randy Pausch, A Model Healthy Survivor (posted before he became a cyberspace phenomenon)
- Empathy-o-Meter for Healthy Survivors (on the value of modulating empathy)
- No Left Turns (on dealing with physical limits)
- Irrational Fear Takes a Seat (ironically, posted 2 days before flight 1594 crashed into the Hudson).
My favorite multi-post discussions have been about:
Birthdays make me think of presents. So in celebration of my blog's first birthday, I will wrap in pretty paper a copy of Happiness in a Storm and mail it to one lucky Healthy Survivor.
The "price" of a raffle ticket is one comment on this blog between today and Valentine's Day 2009. One raffle ticket to a customer, please, but feel free to post as many comments as you'd like. The drawing will take place at noon on Monday February 16, 2009. Good luck!

Mazel tov. This Blog shows great progress and worthy accomplishment in just one year. You've traveled far. Love, Debby

Congrats on one year of blogging! I enjoy reading your posts and believe that your comments and advice apply not only to healthy survivorship for those with cancer but healthy living in general. There are commonalities everywhere. Nourishing hope is needed in everyone's life. Thank you for reminding us all how to live our best lives in the midst of the "irregularly irregular" heartbeat inherent in all of our journeys.
Best to you and keep writing!

Thanks so much, Kate.
Great idea for title of post or article: "Atrial Fib of Life." What do you think? (smile)

Congatulations and thanks for the work and time put into your blog. I have enjoyed following along over the past year and look forward to many more. By the way, I have a copy of Happiness in a Storm, very wonderful book, so by chance I win the raffle, I would choose to donate to another survivor who doesn't have a copy.

Dear Michael,
Everything about your comment made me smile. With hope, Wendy

It's hard to believe that your blog is only a year old. It's such a fixture in my reading routines that it's hard to imagine when the blog wasn't here. Thank you for your insight and community-building. You do great work.
Like Michael, I already have a quite well-worn copy of Happiness in a Storm (signed by its fabulous author, even!), so please pay forward the copy if you draw my name.

Happy Birthday, Wendy! And many happy returns. You've been a lighthouse for me since I was diagnosed, and I'm deeply grateful for our friendship.
Peace, joy, and power to you as you blaze on into the New Year, girlfriend!

Mazel Tov on this birthday celebration. I remember when you were thinking about starting this. Now you have reached and touched so many more lives than before! Your strength, hope, and positive attitude brings much to my own life. You definitely have found your purpose. I look forward to more blogs as well as books!
Love, Debbie

Thanks Joni and Debbie,
You know I started this blog with great reservations. I can't believe how much it has become an essential part of my everyday life. It's made me think and communicate in new ways. With hope, Wendy

Hi Wendy;
Yes, I use atrial fibrillation as a metaphor for life a lot....predictably unpredictable as it is irregularly irregular.

I wrote this post awhile back on just that theme.

Happy Birthday, Blog! I used to hate birthdays - I thought they were pointless and ego-centric activities.
Now, after my misadventures with HCL, I look at birthdays as great things. I am still amazed at how some people celebrate them, but they are good things.

Dear Doug,
And though our "birth"-days roll around only once a year, Healthy Survivors celebrate the many "birthdays" in their lives. Hmm, you have me thinking about the differences between anniversaries and birthdays (grist for a future post).
With hope, Wendy
