The task sounds innocent enough: You copy your medical records on your personal home copier or an office copier, making sure nobody is looking over your shoulder and making sure to take all your originals and copies with you. Are you safe? Maybe not.
Did you know that most copiers contain hard drives that keep records of every document copied in the lifetime of the machine? If the machine goes into landfill, you're probably fine. But imagine what can happen if the machine gets refurbished and resold.
