Jessye Cohen, a doctoral student at Virginia Commonwealth University, is conducting a study of social support of cancer survivors. Under the supervision of advisor Dr. Kathleen Ingram, an associate professor at VCU, Jessye hopes to "expand our knowledge about individuals diagnosed with cancer and their social support."
The survey can be found at http://tinyurl.com/SupportSurveyVCU
Jessye asks "about your experiences, feelings, and thoughts related to the support you have received both on the Internet and offline.... As a small thank you, after you finish the survey you can choose to provide your contact information to be entered into a random drawing for one of four $25 gift cards."
If you've never participated in this sort of study, let me reassure you: You can choose which questions you want to answer, and you may withdraw from the study at any time simply by proceeding to the final page and clicking the FINISH button to exit.
Fail-safe steps have been taken so that your name and email address are never associated or connected to your survey responses. All identifying information will be securely held in strict confidence and will not be shared with anyone. After the data analysis is complete, the original data will be destroyed.
I just did the survey, and it took ~15 minutes. If you are at least 21 years old and a cancer survivor, I hope you consider participating. Then, as a Healthy Survivor, do what is best for you.
