My August 6th post shares a report on a new technology for breast cancer screening. I confess: I did not check out the story.
My bad? No. My reason for posting about the new technology was simply to nourish readers' hope by sharing an exciting new technology being investigated at reputable hospitals. I did not even remotely suggest readers fly to Israel to gain entry into trials of this new technology instead of pursuing their routine screening with mammography.
This highlights a vital point in Healthy Survivorship:
You don't need to research everything.
As a Healthy Survivor, you only need to do research if news causes you to:
- Lose faith in your current medical care
- Want to discuss these new technologies with your healthcare team as an option in your care
I was about to add a third bullet: "Consider pursuing them without your healthcare team's knowledge." But, of course, Healthy Survivors don't pursue any tests and treatments without first discussing them with their healthcare team.
