I'm sure to some people, my flag of names doesn't look like much. To me, the ribbons tell stories of love and loss, resilience and hope.
Years ago I explained to oncology professionals, "What looks like a leisurely 5K stroll may be your patient's Tour de France.... [Or a] way of fulfilling a sense of obligation to yesterday or to tomorrow, repaying a debt to a life lost or for a life gained...But for me, the event is just as much about walking with my son, standing up to cancer, and remembering with ribbons." [excerpted from "Ribbons"]
Do you have someone you would like to honor or remember? If so, please consider supporting Wendy's Eagles by going to my donation page. This year's flag will be silver and gold.
- For every $25 donation in honor of someone, I’ll make a silver ribbon with his or her name on it.
- For every $25 donation in memory of someone, I’ll make a gold ribbon with his or her name on it.
A flag of names is a beautiful thing.
