My life mission is "Helping Others Through the Synergy of Science and Caring." As part of this mission, I support people who are trying to help others become Healthy Survivors.
Today I'm shining the light on Crickett's Answers for Cancer (CAC).
This registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was "formed in memory of Crickett Julius, who passed away in October of 2006, only four months after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at the age of 39...." (from CAC website)
When CAC receives an application from a patient with breast cancer who is requesting a wig, mastectomy product, massage, facial, or other pampering services, CAC then looks for vendors or service providers who are local to the patient and willing to work with CAC. Patients pay nothing.
Recently CAC partnered with LymphDIVAs, the legacy of another young woman who died of breast cancer: Rachel Troxel. To the time she died, Rachel used her energies to design and make available lymphedema sleeves that are stylish while providing superior efficacy in controlling lymphedema.
The addition of lymphedema sleeves to CAC's services is most welcome because these sleeves are not covered by Medicare or most insurance plans under current law. Also, many women find standard-issue sleeves too uncomfortable or unsightly, and consequently they refuse to wear the sleeves, needlessly suffering congestion, swelling and pain that interferes with their normal activities.
You can support this work by making a donation to CAC.
Take a few moments to be inspired by two young women -- Crickett and Rachel -- who saw opportunity in their unwanted illness.
Thank you, Dr. Harpham! Crickett's Answer for Cancer appreciates your "shining the light" on us. And, thank you, too for requesting support for us via donations, all of which are tax deductible.
